Manchester Fashion Week Day 2

After a successful first day, I was back at Spinningfields on Tuesday for Day two of Manchester Fashion Week!  The day saw the week's main sponsor, online fashion brand Missguided take to the fashion forefront and host a spectacular five shows all styled by the enviably cool Sara Luxe.

First up, the prints show. With the words of the hosts for the day, “if it clashes it’s cool” in mind, the models took to the catwalk in a complete array of bold spots & stripes, colourful Aztecs, florals, baroque mixes and a selection of animal prints, throwing the fashion rule book out the window. The mix-matched looks were teamed with chunky strap wedges and heels, metallic oversized clutches, trilbies and tribal inspired necklaces for extra detail.  One of my favourite looks was an endearing mixture of denim, leopard print and colour popping bright orange wedges proving there really are no rules here!

In-between shows the other MCRFW bloggers and I wondered over to the Missguided exhibition space and checked out the clashing prints up close. After much time gushing over what we wanted (Roxie cross print skinnyjeans and polka dot denim shorts!), we got the opportunity to pop backstage and catch a few snaps of the models in hair and make-up and  see the collections of the outfits organised and ready to hit the catwalk next.

The Nautical show, complete with bubble machine, showcased gorgeous navy and white striped bra-lettes, hot pants and skinny jeans. Channelling Riviera chic, there were also shades of creams, nudes and strawberry reds seen by closed toe heels, clinched waist dresses and high waisted shorts. Next, bringing poptasic colour to the catwalk was the Colour pop show, with a bright display of fluro pinks, yellows, blues and oranges and a softer side of ice cream pastel shades.

Bringing a close to the day was the fantastic Disco show, showing Missguided’s best party gear with a mixture of strap backed dresses, dazzling sequin mini dresses and lace bodices, celebrated by a blast of glitter through the room to see out the day. However the show that stole the day for me was the effortlessly cool Festival Grunge collection shown previously. Checked shirts were worn over grey maxi dresses, with plenty of studded shirt collars and denim shorts, and Jeffery Campbell inspired lace heeled boots bringing a tough edge. I think a stop at Missguided may be needed!
