Music Mixbag: Spring Remix Edition

It's my favourite.. Music Mixbag time! I've put together this little May/Spring edition with summer in my ears! Well...it's on the lead up to summer at least, so I thought I would do a beachy summer mixture of some of my favourite remixes I've been loving at the moment! Hope you guys enjoy and if you haven't heard them already, you discover a few new tracks to add to your playlists! Let me know what you think!

Tove Lo: Stay High (feat Hippie Sabotage) Habits Remix

Love this song! I've been listening to this pretty solidly over the last couple of months or so and can't get enough of it! I've still not actually heard the original of this song which I think makes it all the better as it shows this remix must be pretty amazing to make me love it so much! It's synth-heavy, chilled out and pretty much able to strike a cord with everyone!

Clean Bandit: Rather Be (The Magician Remix)

Ah this little remix adds a dreamy, summery, garage vibe to this chart topper! Of course like most people I still love the original (I heard the other day it was one of the most streamed songs on Spotify.. ever!)  but it's so refreshing to hear a new take on it!

Ben Pearce: What I Might Do (Kilter Remix)

So I spend far too much of my time on Majestic Casual's Youtube channel. It made my day when they bought out an album towards the end of the year! If you like this kind of music and haven't subscribed yet I really recommend you do! Check it out here. This Kilter Remix of Ben Pearce has been one of my favourites on their channel lately and one I loved chilling out listening to on the beach in Thailand!

Rudimental ft. Becky Hill : Powerless (MK Remix)

Ok so where do I begin! It took me a little while to get into this remix, it has a fairly long build up at the beginning but when it gets into it, get your bass turned up! MK, who you may know from doing this remix of Wankelmut & Emma Louise's; My Head is a Jungle (also amazing!) has returned with this remix of Rudimental's Powerless! I also love Becky Hill's voice featured in this, why she didn't get further when she was on 'The Voice' is beyond me!

Ed Sheeran & Passenger : No Diggity vs. Thrift Shop ( Kygo Remix)

Ok so this one I may have stolen from my friend who introduced me to the whole Kygo remix thanngg. But I deny anyone not to love this! Remixing the acoustic set from Ed Sheeran and Passenger with an upbeat, summer kind of shiny house melody it's the perfect holiday song! I heard this being played at one of the beach bars in Koh Tao whilst I was watching the sun go down - someone take me back!

Music Mixbag: New Playlist!

Hi guys! This is my first MusicMixbag post in a while and it’s a bit of a random mixture! I tried to stick to an acoustic/chilled theme and then The XX Dark Sky Crystalised remix sneeked itself in there (I just HAD to put in) and then before I knew it Le Youth did to.... But hey I’ve got it covered by calling it a Mixbag.. right? So here are my picks I’m loving at the moment!

Le Youth: Dance With Me

I thought I'd crack it off with this awesome party track. I love Le Youth and their remixing skills. Featuring clips of TLC’s ‘No Scrubs’ it’s got that distinct Le Youth house music sound to it and of course I love a bit of TLC. Who doesn’t? Bring on listening to this in the summer, sunnies on, cocktail in hand.

Banks: Waiting Game

A bit of a newbie to scene but I love this song and Banks’soulful voice. Her deep music kinda has a Jessie Ware style to it with the heavy, dark synths in the background. Apparently she has already toured around with The Weeknd which I can definitely see fitting well together! I reckon in the next year Banks’ will no doubt be making herself more known on the music scene.  Definitely one to watch!

The XX: Crystalised Dark Sky Remix

As a big fan of The XX I thought I’d heard nearly all the different remixes of this song till I came across this little beauty of a Dark Sky remix. It’s by no means new but I’m so glad I found it eventually! There’s always space for a bit of old school garage in my music collection and I love how this remix twists this song up and gives it that edge, especially given that initially they’re such different genres.

Sam Smith: Latch (Acoustic)

Whattt can I say about Sam Smith! I loveee his songs at the moment including his recent release, Money on My Mind and lots of the other LP tracks I’ve been listening to like ‘Lay Me Down’ . His voice is so beauts acoustically and this stripped down version of his team up with Disclosure does not disappoint. I actually felt a little emotional the first time I heard this, yes ok that’s probably a little #awkward to confess to, but the way he sings it just gives the lyrics a whole new light. His voice is so technically great and full of emotion too I couldn’t help but get chills! This is a must listen if you haven’t heard it already!

Vance Joy: Riptide

Ahh I love this cute folky song – It’s such a catchy, pretty tune. I heard it on Radio1 a little while back and it’s been a good road trip/car  favourite at the moment! Again, the bouncy beats of the little ukulele and harmonies make me think of summer, which is very welcomed in this horrible weather we’ve been having lately! A fab little uplifting song you need to listen to!

A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera: Say Something

Another beaut of a song that I love chilling out and listening to at the moment. I promise I’m not trying to depress you guys/make you cry haha! When I first heard this song I have to say I thought of ‘Of Monsters and Men’ straight away and had no idea it was Ms Aguilera!  It’s nice to hear Christina change it up and step away from her usual belters and go a little more delicate with her huskier whispery tone! Not that I don’t love her for that, she has got an incredible voice after all! But I’m sure no doubt this one will be a chart topper!

will.i.am  : Feelin' Myself f. Miley Cyrus, French Montana & Wiz Khalifa

I be everywhere everybody know meee. Super super fresh with the dope styleyyy. Yes, that was me rapping, imagine that if you will. This song has definitely been a grower on me and I know it's be one to split opinions. To be brutally honest, initially I thought.. oh man, another simple base beat with Miley Cyrus trying to be ‘dope’ on it, but actually it’s got a hold of me and now I’m finding it pretty catchy - I just can’t help myself bopping along to it. (For some reason the word bopping and this song doesn't seem to mash well together. Not very G of me is it? hey ho.)

Music Mixbag: This Week's Playlist

1. The New Favourite: Katy B / Jessie Ware / Geenius - Aaliyah

Katy B is back and has teamed up with the amazing Jessie Ware for this new track Aaliyah. This 90's house throwback track has been recorded in tribute to late R&B artist Aaliyah as the title suggests. From what I've read their aim was to encapsulate everything about Aaliyah in a track and I reckon they've done a pretty fab job in paying homage to her and the track itself I absolutely love. It's free to download here as part of Katy B's new EP!

2. The Re-discovered track: The Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition

This has to be one of my all time favourite songs - I just never seem to get bored of it. It's been a while since I listened to it till it popped up on my iTunes shuffle the other day and it's now accompanying me on my daily walk/bus/drive to work again!

3. The Guilty Pleasure: Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble

Don't judge me! Ha! This song is just too damn catchy for it's own good - I've had it in my head all day today and I can't help but admit I really like it. I really am a big old sucker for a cheesy pop-tastic song it seems!

4. The Remix: Destiny's Child - Say My Name (Cyril Hahn Remix)

So Destiny's Child are working together again this year! Woop! I couldn't of been happier when I heard this news. Without a shadow of a doubt Destiny's Child were my all time favourite band aged 11+. I think I may even still have their concert poster and light up wand somewhere haha. Because of this news, it only seemed right they were included in this playlist post. Remixed by Cyril Hahn it completely flips the song on it's head and is sooo chilled out kinda Jamie XX-esque. Perfect.

Music Mixbag: Sunday Playlist

When I first started this blog I used to do quite a few posts on what was on my playlist, who I couldn't stop listening to or who I was loving discovering. I haven't done a post that's entirely music orientated in ages and as big old eclectic music fan, I've decided to get it back up and running again as more of a regular feature! So today I'm kicking it back off with a selection of my latest favourite tracks for a chilled Sunday Playlist!

Of Monsters and Men // Dirty Paws
I love this song. It's got such a cute charm to it and follows on from 'Little Talks' brilliantly.

Two Door Cinema Club // Sun

A happy chappy second single from their latest album Beacon. I always love a bit of TDCC.

Alt-J // Matilda
It took me a little while to come round to Alt-J. But I absolutely love this song, such a distinctive voice and I feel instantly chilled after listening to it.

Ed Sheeran // Give Me Love: Live Room Acoustic
Although its hard to select one, I think this is possibly my favourite song on Ed's album +. So glad it's been released as the final song!

Alex Care // Damn Your Eyes
I LOVE Alex Care's voice, especially on this brilliant cover of Etta James' Damn Your Eyes. I wish it was longer than 2 and half minutes!

Gabrielle Aplin // Ghosts
My favourite song from the amazing Gabrielle who sings the lovely cover of 'Power of Love' for this year's Xmas John Lewis advert. I first started my music posts on this blog with her song 'Home', so it only felt right to include this song in this post!

The XX // Angels
I know this isn't a new song but I just still can't stop listening to it! I don't think I'll ever get bored of hearing it!

Pinback // Penelope
An oldie, but a goodie. This song first came out in 2001. So when I was age 10/11 and completely unaware indie style music ever existed! Quite a melancholic song I know, but I still love listening to it!

Enjoy. Hope you all have a lovely relaxing day :)
