Jumper Dress & Chunky Knits

Hello Hello Mixbagers. I can only apologise for my poor posting this past week, I feel like I’ve already put my blogging New Years Resolution in jeopardy and it’s still only bloomin’ January! But anyway onwards and upwards and all that -  the reason I’ve been so busy is I have recently started interning at Motel Rocks HQ for 2 days a week and am still working at my retail job alongside it so it’s all been a tad busy! I’m absolutely loving it though so it makes not having much spare time worth it! You can check out the blog posts I’ve been posting on the Motel blog here, here, here and here.

Stud Bag // Similar - New Look
Bird Necklace // Oasis

Above is a quick glance at another of my outfits from the snow days last week! In the winter a jumper dress is definitely one of my favourite outfits, I love nothing more than popping on a comfy jumper dress, leggings and boots! This one was a bit of a steal from Primark for £10, I love its maroon colouring and the feature elbow pads and it’s also been made with a novelty yarn so has a flicker of different colours running through it. (hello textiles info!)The chunky knit scarf which I have worn to death this winter is Topshop and the little bird pendent necklace is from Oasis whilst the stud bag is from New Look.

It feels very strange looking at these snow pictures now the sun is out! Hopefully it’s here to stay though and we can all start looking forward to the Spring Summer season! I've got some product reviews to share with you all shortly as my nail art transfers from WooWoo nails arrived the other week and I've recently bought an amazing Lee Stafford product I want to share with you all :)

Snow Day Outfit

Hi everyone! As part of my new year blogging resolutions I said I would try and spend more time doing outfit posts so.. drum roll please, here is my first outfit post of the year! It was surprisingly alright jumping out in the snow to take some shots although I don't know about you guys, but it's made me realise I have no practical shoes to wear in this kind of weather at all - apart from wellies!

Faux Leather Quilted Biker Jacket // Topshop
Collared Crew Jumper // Oasis
Skater Dress // Topshop
Chelsea Boots // Miss Selfridge
Beanie // Topshop

I'm wearing my faux leather biker jacket from Topshop with a collared crew jumper from Oasis. Originally this jumper had an animal print collar (which I love) but I was given this unwanted leather collar from my Mum who has the cream version, so I decided to switch it for this outfit! The jumper is super soft and cosy and as I'm a sucker for collared tops, I love the fact you can switch the collars on it as they are detachable, or you can remove them completely to make a pretty versatile classic crew neck! It just means I'm now more tempted to get it in different colours!

Underneath I'm wearing a classic plain black skater dress which is last season Topshop. Although it's sleeveless it's pretty perfect when it comes to layering up in winter and my plum chunky knit beanie which is, guess what, also from Topshop always adds a bit of extra warmth!
- I've only just realised how much of this outfit is from there, ooops sorry guys, bit Topshop obsessed-
It's been my favourite beanie to wear this winter not only because it keeps my head so snug but injects a bit of colour into lots of outfits! My little Chelsea boots are from Miss Selfridge - you've probably seen it my other outfit posts as they're my everyday go to boots and surprisingly they have quite a gripy sole!

What have you all been wearing in the snow?

Snow Business

Hello everyone! I managed to squeeze in a snowy walk this weekend around work, naturally the blogger in me had to take some photos whilst everything was looking so pretty and winter wonderland like! Here are a few snaps from my wintery walk around a little wood near my house in Cheltenham and a couple from the back garden! I also managed to get some outfit snaps done so will pop them up tomorrow :)

Hope you've all been enjoying the snow and got those sledges out! The big kid in me will never stop loving a bit of sledging time!

A Snowy/Summery Update!

Hey guys! I'm writing today from a very very snowy Cheltenham! I can't even get my car down our lane let alone down the hill to work today - so it's a snow day and blog time for me! I honestly can't believe how much snow has fallen, despite seeing all the weather warnings it still took me by surprise as I hopped out of bed this morning! I hope you all have got to work or out and about safely and if you're home, hope you're all snuggled up and warm :)

This is just a quick update post to let you all know that I have began guest blogging on The Editeur again for 2013 and my first post is up now!! I focused the post all on spring summer collections, which was pretty hard to do wrapped up in a cable knit jumper and fluffy slippers, but nevertheless if you want to check out their lovely summery new arrivals you can see the full post here.

I am currently putting together a SS13 trend post in collaboration with Matches fashion at the moment! So I'm excited to post that next week for you all when I've managed to get all the moodboards done!
Also, stay tuned later today - I'm launching a little bit of a mini makeover of my blog :)

Hope you all have a fab Friday in this winter wonderland!

Music Mixbag: This Week's Playlist

1. The New Favourite: Katy B / Jessie Ware / Geenius - Aaliyah

Katy B is back and has teamed up with the amazing Jessie Ware for this new track Aaliyah. This 90's house throwback track has been recorded in tribute to late R&B artist Aaliyah as the title suggests. From what I've read their aim was to encapsulate everything about Aaliyah in a track and I reckon they've done a pretty fab job in paying homage to her and the track itself I absolutely love. It's free to download here as part of Katy B's new EP!

2. The Re-discovered track: The Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition

This has to be one of my all time favourite songs - I just never seem to get bored of it. It's been a while since I listened to it till it popped up on my iTunes shuffle the other day and it's now accompanying me on my daily walk/bus/drive to work again!

3. The Guilty Pleasure: Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble

Don't judge me! Ha! This song is just too damn catchy for it's own good - I've had it in my head all day today and I can't help but admit I really like it. I really am a big old sucker for a cheesy pop-tastic song it seems!

4. The Remix: Destiny's Child - Say My Name (Cyril Hahn Remix)

So Destiny's Child are working together again this year! Woop! I couldn't of been happier when I heard this news. Without a shadow of a doubt Destiny's Child were my all time favourite band aged 11+. I think I may even still have their concert poster and light up wand somewhere haha. Because of this news, it only seemed right they were included in this playlist post. Remixed by Cyril Hahn it completely flips the song on it's head and is sooo chilled out kinda Jamie XX-esque. Perfect.

What do you all think of this week's selections?

Maxfactor Clump Defy Volumising Mascara: Review

Hi guys! I thought I would do a post on my latest beauty purchase - the Maxfactor Clump Defy Volumising Mascara! Normally I am a huggeeee fan of Maxfactor False Lash Effect mascara and have been using it on a day to day basis for many years, so when it came round to that time of purchasing a new mascara, it felt a bit strange opting for a new product - but I thought it would be worth a try especially as it is on offer with £3 off at Boots and it is part of the False Lash Effect family!

The wand in comparison to the Maxfactor false lash is much curvier, and I did notice on first application that there was much less product on the wand as I pulled it out of the colour base, meaning there was no product overload to cause clumps. As I was applying it, the curvy wand really does help with curling and defining the lashes which I was really suprised by as so many times with a new mascara I have found that my lashes can clump together.

Black Wand - Maxfactor False Lash Effect
Pink Wand - Maxfactor Clump Defy Lash

The volumising and definition this mascara gives is pretty fab as my lashes did adopt a nice curvy shape that overall was very natural looking! In terms of lengthening, I have relatively long lashes naturally so this did help accentuate them although I wouldn't say it could compete with the False Lash Effect in this respect.

Sorry - this zoom in on my eye is quite alarming, but at least  you can see the results!

I don't think I personally will be switching my mascara choice, probably because I've got quite comfortable with the False Lash Effect and I slightly prefer the more dramatic look that gives my lashes. However, I would recommend this mascara as it does what it says on the tin, it is a great volumiser and has a good effect!

What are all your favourite mascaras? Have you given this Maxfactor Clump Defy a go?
